ERRC Urges the Prosecutor of Novosibirsk Region, Russia, to Investigate Arson Attacks on Roma

On February 21, 2004, the ERRC wrote to the Prosecutor of the Novosibirsk Region in relation to violent arson attacks on Romani houses by civilians that resulted in the expulsion of about 400 Roma from the town of Iskitim, Novosibirsk region in February, 2005. According to the information received by the ERRC, law enforcement officials failed to undertake any action to prevent the arson although they had reportedly been aware of the attacks on the Roma.
