April 2003: Published a joint memorandum with the United Nations Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights in Serbia and Montenegro entitled "The Protection of Roma Rights in Serbia and Montenegro".

July 2003: Published a pamphlet, in Hungarian, explaining ERRC activities to a Hungarian-speaking audience.

July 2003: Published Bulgarian, Czech and Slovak language translations of an ERRC document on barriers to the education of Romani children.

Campaigning, Conferences and Meetings

April 10-13, 2003: Attended a conference on policies and integration of Roma organised by the Swedish Research Center at the Swedish Embassy in Istanbul, Turkey.

April 12, 2003: Held a meeting on migration issues, rights erosion and the European Union, Budapest, Hungary.

April 28, 2003: In co-operation with the Bratislava-based League of Human Rights Activists, held an outreach meeting for Romani activists to discuss issues related to review of Slovakia by the UN Human Rights Committee, Bratislava, Slovakia.

May 22-24, 2003: Participated in a conference on good practices in the field of anti-discrimination, organized by the Romanian Ministry of Public Information and European Commission DG Employment and Social Affairs, Bucharest, Romania.

May 28-30, 2003: Organised a training workshop on the European Union Race Directive for Slovak judges, Trenčianské Teplice, Slovakia.

June 6-7, 2003: Conducted human rights and discrimination litigation training workshops, Tirana, Albania.

June 8-28, 2003: Attended a course on human rights education convened by the Canadian Human Rights Foundation, Montreal, Canada.

June 12-13, 2003: Participated in a seminar organised by the Fundacion Secretariado General Gitano in Madrid on "Discrimination and the Roma Community: Specialized Bodies for the Promotion of Equal Treatment", Madrid, Spain.

June 16-18, 2003: Participated in the "7th study session for persons involved in legal assistance to Roma/Gypsy and Traveller communities" organised by the Council of Europe (Directorate General of Human Rights and Directorate General of Social Cohesion) and the European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC), Strasbourg, France.

June 23-24, 2003: Gave a presentation on Roma and discrimination at the anti-discrimination panel of the EU Conference on Civil Dialogue, Budapest, Hungary.

June 23-27, 2003: Co-facilitated a week-long advocacy training on school desegregation for Romani leaders in seven countries, co-organised by the Columbia University Public Interest Law Initiative and the Roma Participation Project, Budapest, Hungary.

June 28, 2003: Attended a seminar co-organised by the Belgrade Centre for Human Rights and the London-based AIRE Centre, Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro.

June 29, 2003: Participated in the Romani Women Forum of the "Roma in an Expanding Europe, Breaking the Poverty Cycle" conference organised by the World Bank and the Open Society Institute, Budapest, Hungary.

June 30-July 1, 2003: Participated in a conference entitled "Roma in an Expanding Europe, Breaking the Poverty Cycle" organised by the World Bank and the Open Society Institute, Budapest, Hungary.

July 4, 2003: Attended a seminar for Serbian Constitutional Court judges co-organised by the United Nations Development Programme and the Serbian Judicial Training Centre, Belgrade, Serbia and Montenegro.

July 6-13, 2003: Held the 3rd annual ERRC Roma Rights Summer Workshop, Budapest, Hungary.

July 9-12, 2003: Attended a conference on access to justice and Roma rights organised by the Swedish Research Center at the Swedish Embassy in Istanbul, Turkey.

July 17-18, 2003: Provided written comments for, and attended the review by the UN Human Rights Committee of Slovakia's compliance with the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights, Geneva, Switzerland.

July 28-29, 2003: Attended a round-table discussion on the human rights situation of Roma in the Ural region of Russia co-organised by the Council of Europe and Ekaterinburg-based Romani organisation Roma Ural, Ekaterinburg, Russia.

August 29, 2003: Inaugurated a project on housing rights in Slovakia, undertaken jointly with the Bratislava-based Milan Simecka Foundation and the Geneva-based Centre on Housing Rights and Evictions (COHRE) with support from the United Kingdom's Foreign and Commonwealth Office Human Rights Fund, by training a group of Romani and non-Romani researchers, Kosice, Slovakia.

September 3, 2003: Presented a paper at a conference on "Roma and Asylum in Britain: Global Issues, Local Concerns", Newcastle, England.

September 22, 2003: Presented ERRC concerns with respect to Hungary to the Council of Europe's European Commission Against Racism and Intolerance, Budapest, Hungary.

September 24-28, 2003: At the invitation of the Swedish Ombudsman's office, held a training for Romani activists in human rights and anti-discrimination approaches, Stockholm, Sweden.

October 3, 2003: Inaugurated training of law students - including ERRC scholarship recipients for Romani students of law and public administration - as part of a street law legal clinic program run from ELTE law school, Budapest, Hungary.

October 7 and 9, 2003: Provided training for human rights activists from around Central and Eastern Europe as part of an advocacy program organised by the Human Rights Students Initiative of the Central European University, Budapest, Hungary.
