European Union Report "The Situation of Roma in an Enlarged European Union"
The ERRC was one of three partners in a consortium led by the UK firm Focus Consultancy Ltd. The Brussels-based European Roma Information Office (ERIO) was the other partner in the consortium. The final product of the project, the report "The Situation of Roma in an Enlarged European Union" was published in November 2004 by the European Commission.
The ERRC undertook the largest share of work on the report, in keeping with its status as Europe's premiere research and policy agency on human rights issues related to Roma. Among other things, the ERRC provided researchers for 8 of the 11 countries in which intensive research was undertaken, had a
key role in the international Research Directorate and in the report project Steering Committee, and also wrote the base document for the report. The ERRC also provided the Romani translation of the report.
The report represents an important milestone in the adoption of ERRC positions by European Union institutions.
