Roma in the Hungarian Elections

In the Hungarian national elections, held on April 7 and 21, 2002, four Romani candidates were elected members of the new Hungarian Parliament, which took office on May 13, 2002. Mr László Teleki was elected on the list of the Hungarian Socialist Party (MSZP), the new government's major coalition partner, while Mr Flórián Farkas, Mr József Varga and Mr Mihály Lukács take up seats in the legislature after being elected on the list of the Alliance of Young Democrats – Hungarian Civic Party.
