Chasing White Flight in North Macedonia

In Gjorgi Sugarev Primary School in Bitola, North Macedonia, segregation of Romani children has been on the rise.  

In the 2020-2021 school year, for the first time ever, 100% of newly enrolled children were of Romani ethnicity. This was largely because of non-Romani parents removing their children from the school. This process is known as ‘white flight’.
