Roma Rights Defenders – Fighting against hate speech online

From September 22nd – 27th, the European Roma Rights Centre (ERRC) organised a Roma Rights Defenders retreat. Our volunteers from Serbia and Albania working to challenge digital antigypsyism gathered to share experiences, learn new skills, and strengthen their network of young Romani activists. The ERRC’s Roma Rights Defenders are working to shut down hate speech against Roma on social media in their countries. By building digital activist communities in Serbia and Albania, they are recording and reporting hate speech on social media platforms, providing counter-narratives to racist comments, building evidence for legal actions, and developing materials to stop the spread of misinformation.
